Verisurf 2027 Now Available, Accelerating Model-Based Inspection Across OEM and Supplier Manufacturing

New in Verisurf 2027: automatic inspection plan creation from QIF and enhanced Persistent IDs (PIDs) that maintain traceability between inspection characteristics and the engineering model from first article through production.

ANAHEIM, Calif., September 30, 2026 — Verisurf Software today announced the availability of Verisurf 2027, advancing model-based metrology from engineering definition and inspection planning through measurement and enterprise quality reporting.

The new release automatically creates inspection plans from QIF data and uses enhanced Persistent IDs (PIDs) to maintain the identity of inspection characteristics throughout the measurement and reporting process. Support for STEP AP242 and QIF, together with Persistent IDs, maintains characteristic identity from the engineering model through inspection and QIF Results, preserving a standards-based Digital Thread from design through manufacturing quality.

Built on open standards including STEP AP242 and QIF, Verisurf supports semantic PMI and works with virtually any measurement device, allowing manufacturers to connect engineering definition, shop-floor inspection, and enterprise quality data without being tied to a single hardware brand. The result is a faster, more automated, and traceable path from engineering definition to actionable inspection results.

New in Verisurf 2027

Verisurf 2027 reduces inspection programming while strengthening the connection between the engineering model and measured results. New capabilities include:

Automatic inspection plan creation from QIF. Read engineering-defined features, characteristics, datums, and GD&T directly from QIF data instead of programming them manually.

Enhanced Persistent IDs (PIDs). Maintain the identity of characteristics from the engineering model through inspection and reporting, allowing measurement results to trace directly back to their engineering definition.

STEP AP242 to QIF interoperability. Preserve engineering PMI and Persistent IDs when creating QIF data from supported STEP AP242 models, maintaining characteristic identity for downstream inspection and reporting.

Expanded reporting and analysis. New capabilities include ASME Y14.5 Rule #1 reporting for circles and cylinders, along with new feature-to-surface Construct Analysis.

On the shop floor, manufacturers can begin with a STEP AP242 or supported CAD model containing PMI, create standards-based QIF data, automatically generate the inspection plan and probing path, and complete first-article and production inspection using a portable arm, laser tracker, scanner, or CMM. Inspection results can then be output as QIF Results while maintaining the Persistent IDs that connect measured characteristics back to their engineering definitions. This standards-based workflow eliminates many of the manual programming and data-translation steps that traditionally slow inspection and weaken traceability.

STEP AP242 → QIF → Inspection → QIF Results
Persistent IDs maintain traceability throughout the Digital Thread.

Together, these open standards provide a connected Digital Thread between engineering, the shop floor, suppliers, and enterprise quality systems. Verisurf’s device-independent platform supports portable arms, laser trackers, scanners, and CMMs, allowing manufacturers and their suppliers to standardize on a common model-based inspection workflow while continuing to use their existing measurement equipment.

Availability

Verisurf 2027 is available now. Customers with active maintenance can upgrade through their existing plans. The software integrates with the CAD, reduced-dimension drawing, and measurement-hardware workflows manufacturers already use, while Verisurf’s metrology training and technical support help teams quickly adopt the new capabilities.

“For more than 25 years, we have worked to move inspection from disconnected measurements toward model-based, traceable manufacturing workflows,” said Ernie Husted, President of Verisurf Software. “Verisurf 2027 takes another major step forward by using STEP AP242, QIF interoperability, and Persistent IDs to maintain the connection between engineering intent and inspection results from the model, through the shop floor, and into the enterprise.”
