With a range of stylus lengths up to 50 mm, the new Renishaw PH20 PLUS head provides a maximum working length of up to 300 mm from the center of the A-axis - more than 50% greater reach than the current PH20 system

Verisurf Software will demonstrate the new Renishaw PH20 PLUS 5-axis touch-trigger system at IMTS 2026, Booth 134330, giving attendees a firsthand look at expanded CMM inspection capability. With up to 300 mm of inspection reach, the new head provides more than 50% greater reach than the current PH20 system, extending high-speed touch-trigger measurement to a wider range of parts, features, and applications.

Verisurf software powers the PH20 PLUS with an intuitive, CAD-based approach to inspection. Intelligent MBD (model-based definition) helps accelerate measurement planning, while powerful device controls and repeatable inspection routines optimize CMM operation and support consistent process control.

Together, Verisurf and PH20 PLUS enable manufacturers to take greater advantage of 5-axis measurement while keeping inspection workflows connected to the digital thread.

The PH20 PLUS builds on the speed and flexibility of the original PH20 with a redesigned A-axis and kinematic mount that accommodate longer probe configurations. The expanded reach improves access to deep, recessed, and otherwise difficult-to-measure features, helping manufacturers inspect more of the part without sacrificing the efficiency of 5-axis touch-trigger measurement.

“With PH20 PLUS, we’ve focused on extending capability which we think will appeal to both existing PH20 customers and those with measurement requirements which could previously not be met by the existing head,” said Nathan Fielder, Product Manager at Renishaw. “Existing PH20 users will be able to adopt the new head and reuse existing programs and measurement strategies, while benefiting from increased reach and greater flexibility.”

“Extended value comes from combining advanced sensor capability with software that makes that capability practical and repeatable on the shop floor,” said Nick Merrell, Executive Vice President at Verisurf. “Verisurf helps manufacturers get more from systems like PH20 PLUS by simplifying programming, optimizing measurement strategies, and driving consistent process control from one inspection routine to the next.”

The redesigned A-axis supports a wider range of probe module extensions, allowing the PH20 PLUS head to use longer and heavier probe configurations. The result is an additional 107 mm of reach, significantly expanding the accessible measurement volume while retaining the usability and flexibility associated with the PH20 platform.

With a range of stylus lengths up to 50 mm, the PH20 PLUS head provides a maximum working length of up to 300 mm from the center of the A-axis – an increase of more than 50% compared with the current PH20 system.

PH20 PLUS is backward compatible and designed as a direct replacement for the PH20. It maintains compatibility with the existing range of TP20 modules, excluding the extended force module, helping simplify upgrades for current users. The powered PCR20 rack can hold and automatically exchange multiple probe modules and accessories, supporting flexible inspection configurations and automated measurement routines.

“The ease of use and universal compatibility of Verisurf software make it a strong fit for CMMs running the PH20 PLUS system,” added Merrell. “Our model-based metrology approach keeps measurement connected to the digital thread, with the intelligent CAD model serving as the design authority. That connection helps manufacturers improve process control and interoperability while increasing confidence in measurement results.”

Verisurf technical specialists will be available throughout IMTS to discuss specific manufacturing challenges and demonstrate how the software works with virtually all major CAD systems and measurement devices, including CMMs, portable arms, laser trackers, scanners, and machine tool probing systems. The result is a flexible, interoperable approach that allows manufacturers to choose the measurement hardware best suited to the application while maintaining a consistent software workflow.

Attendees are encouraged to schedule a one-on-one meeting with a Verisurf metrology expert during the show. Each consultation will focus on the attendee’s specific applications and production challenges. Participants will receive a custom engineering notebook and technical information tailored to their manufacturing requirements.
